MN Women in the Wild is an adventure group for women of all ages to explore everything the wilderness has to offer.
When Carrin became the Director of Women's Ministry at St. Andrew's in 2001 she was introduced to Women On the Edge, an adventure ministry for women that had been running since the mid 90s.
In 2015 when St. Andrew's turned their focus to other endeavors Carrin wasn't ready to abandon the women who still wanted to go into the wilderness and step out of their comfort zone, so she and her daughters morphed WOTE into a new program called Minnesota Women in the Wild.
Novices to camping, hiking, and outdoor adventures find themselves enjoying outings with women who are long-time hikers, bikers, and adventurers. It's not about the level of expertise, it's about getting outside, trying new things, enjoying life, and community.
What we do: We challenge women to experience wilderness activities and meet new people in a friendly community.
Who we are: We are not a group or club as we keep things fluid because different events pique different interests. We exist to get people to stretch outside their comfort zone, get into God's great outdoors, and to create a non-threatening, supportive community where one can try different outdoor experiences.
What to expect: We research fun opportunities so you don't have to. We contract with any outfitters, arrange for lodging, and communicate details with the group. Our events have devotions, and sometimes worship services, while focusing on community, and adventure.
Organizers: Carrin Mahmood, Alli Bui, Taylor Mahmood
